I must have been really lucky (or just brash enough to get my point across.) Since my dad really does know how to fix things around the house, I learned so much from him. And at work, well, let's just say that we have a lot of [Dilbert's] Wallys around and I'm actually doing the work, so guys pretty much leave me alone.

Unless they need something, of course :P

anthropologists seem both protective and defensive of their discipline - and not without good cause, as they are vanguards of cultural relativism (looked down upon) and shine a light on most effects of colonialism & imperialism (can't have that), and nevertheless need funding to continue existing and researching.

I agree. I think the larger critique I see on feminist sites these days isn't that one sex or gender is "bad," but that we exist in a system saturated with messages that say exactly that - and they say it's the women, and men who thus receive most entitlements and privileges.

So, I don't hear feminists saying men are bad, but that our culture needs to be changed, and one of the ways in which it needs to be changed is to remove all the male-centered beliefs and practices that serve to limit, dehumanize, remove consent from, etc. - women.

Woohoo!
