Alex is right, what’s going on right now is despicable. Unfortunately, it also seems pretty necessary. Will this hurt many people over time? Yes. Will we learn from these mistakes? Perhaps. The question comes down to “who’s doing the hurting and what is it we should learn.”

As if anyone would ask Sarah Palin these questions. My favorite: “Cindy and John McCain say you have experience in foreign affairs because Alaska is next to Russia. When did you last speak with Prime Minister Putin, and what did you talk about?” … though “What is the European Union, and how does it function?” [...]

I’ve been thinking lately that, once Alex finishes her pastry chef program and things have settled down a little, I should finish up some sort of career switch/move on of my own. I’m not sure I’m ready to be, or want to be, a teacher. In fact I’m increasingly certain I am not.
