Videos, Links, and Thoughts Oh My

If I have time I want to watch this show on struggling musicians … and perhaps read at the same time Pamela Des Barres’ I’m With The Band. The subculture of small artists and their fans is a strange, entirely different world sometimes.

I also came across a bunch of animation stuff lately that’s pretty cool. Like this Russian film Alisa’s Birthday that I’d love to see. But even better, Sita Sings the Blues is a joy to watch, and then, from a new site I’ve fallen for, here’s a little bit of love for New York from the 1960s on the Sale of Manhattan:

But then, even better to me since I love the game, I found out that my favorite song from World of Goo was done by one of the programmers for this video when he was in school – and it’s fun :P

Related, here’s a claymation video inspired by the game:

And finally, also, the soundtrack was transcribed by ear into a World of Goo piano medley – and it’s great! Again, biased because I like the game, but it is cool…

OK, not finally. I also discovered via the 2D Boy blog this site of experimental games. You need Windows to play them but the concepts are really interesting and silly and simple. Like this surreal game rainy day game where you need to make a tree of hands grow, grab umbrellas, and help boats cross the … river? And some of the best little games are from Kyle Gabler, one of the creators of World of Goo and the composer of its soundtrack. Love love.
