I’ve Never Heard The Music But Now I Want To
On the other hand, I did get something awesome from my Sullivan non-blog visit (see previous entry). He linked to “The Only Website Dedicated To Seona Dancing” which is the 1980s Brit synth-pop duo that Ricky Gervais was in. Ricky Gervais, as you may or may not know, was the star and co-creator of BBC’s absolutely genius sit-com, “The Office.” It’s things like this that tell me I could hang out with ol’ Sully, as long as we stayed away from issues of taxation and war, though perhaps war would be a tad safer, since I’m no expert on taxes and he obviously is.
Anyway, he’s absolutely correct on one thing: if you haven’t seen “The Office,” you owe it to yourself to go out right now and buy the whole thing on DVD. It’s two short seasons and a “holiday special” that wraps everything up. I hear via Alex that the coming US version should be pretty good, particularly since they’re not just remaking the same scripts, they’re writing everything from scratch for the American audience. Gervais himself said (I’m paraphrasing from memory here) that he likened it to rock bands doing different covers of a song. I like that attitude.
And with that, I’ll leave you with an inspiring, if simplistic, pictoral depiction of one man’s career progression:
