All Partied Out? Never!
Last night was a friend’s birthday celebration, and I had a lot of fun despite just sitting around having a few drinks. Sometimes I just get so bored — I wish my generation could have fun other ways than sitting around having a few drinks. Board games, impromptu puppet theatre, hotel room orgies, whatever. But I had fun last night.
When the party’s over, what do you do? Party more. And listen to the Scissor Sisters. I know, I know, I’m a bit slow on the uptake. They were hot this summer, and now they’re probably soooo last month, but I love ‘em. They’re a bit of a clash of styles, which is probably why I like them. Disco meets prog-rock meets punk meets glam. I mean, you take Elton John and pair him up with The Cure and The Bee Gees and have them cover Pink Floyd, and there you go. Well, they do cover Pink Floyd, and it really really works.
But here’s another of their songs, one of my favorites, “Filthy/Gorgeous“. I had a hard time choosing which song to share; there really isn’t a weak song on the album. You should get the album because it’s good, fun music, but you’ll end up falling on love with them for “It Can’t Come Quickly Enough” — the perfect song for all those times when life just doesn’t live up to it.
