Eminem, We Thought We Knew You
But we were wrong. Don’t ask me who I mean by “we” or what I’m talking about at all because I don’t know. All I know is that this is outstanding. Come on, mosh the vote with us on November 2! You know you want to!
You can even read an interesting, if a bit over the top, analysis of the video by a DailyKos member - and that “mosh the vote” site linked second above was created by another DailyKos member. But here’s what I like best about it: at the end, Eminem addresses both Bush & Kerry, there’s a pause, and then the children ask, “can you hear us?” It’s not just another anti-Bush video, it’s an anthem of citizen empowerment — it’s about a widespread awakening, a realization of community. It goes beyond this election. Eminem is asking, how did we let this happen, and can we work so it doesn’t happen again? I just hope it’s an honest reflection of society and not merely a desperate plea.
Vaguely releated to that, check out Voter-Reward — they want people to celebrate on election night, and are promoting the idea of bars, clubs, and bands providing discounts to people who voted. Sounds like a neat idea, at least the celebrating part. But I gotta be home by 10:00 to watch the special Daily Show.
