Monday, July 19th, 2004Like the title says, for people who care about such things, you’ve probably already heard about the “Fifty-nine Deceits in Fahrenheit 9/11″ … well, there’s some excellent work being done by a user over at the Daily Kos to debunk the claims of deceit. I still haven’t seen the film and likely won’t (I’d rather see The Corporation, Control Room and Outfoxed – I think they’re much more important). But from looking at the “deceits” and the debunking, the guy’s doing a good job. And I think it’s great that, at least in a small way, somewhere there is some actual discussion going on about the content of Moore’s film, instead of the incessant “talking points”-fueled bashing of Moore himself which was all the media has seemed capable of.
Speaking of which, although I really want to see Outfoxed, I wish it was not just about Fox News but also the other cable outlets and their inability to do any real reporting or journalism anymore. They’re not so actively biased as Fox, but they don’t ask questions anymore, they just talk talk talk, basically doing nothing but parroting government and corporate press releases all day long. “Liberal Media” my ass. More like lazy, comfortable media if you ask me.
